Greenville Varsity Jackets stayed in it until the end, but BRONCOS pulled away late in a 6-5 victory on Wednesday at Coopersville High School. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the fifth when Jenna Jenks induced Kami Rasch to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Alexa Hyler collected three hits in three at bats in the loss. Hyler doubled in the fifth inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Greenville Varsity Jackets got on the board in the top of the first inning after Hyler doubled down the right field line, and Brooke Lindquist singled to left field, each scoring one run.

BRONCOS jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Brooklyn Dobberstein singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

Gianna Lahr singled to left field, which helped Greenville Varsity Jackets tie the game at three in the top of the fourth.

A fly out by Lora Taylor gave BRONCOS the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth.

Greenville Varsity Jackets took the lead in the top of the fifth. Hyler doubled, scoring two runs, to give Greenville Varsity Jackets the lead, 5-4.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, BRONCOS went back into the lead after Bella Thomas homered to center field, and Rasch lined into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

Sam Lemieux earned the win for BRONCOS. The pitcher surrendered nine hits and five runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking none. Jenks took the loss for Greenville Varsity Jackets. The starter went six innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out five and walking four.

Dobberstein and Thomas were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for BRONCOS while hitting back-to-back. Dobberstein, Taylor, Rasch, and Thomas each drove in one run for BRONCOS.
