Greenville Varsity Jackets couldn't keep up with Sparta Varsity Spartans and fell 10-1 on Wednesday at Sparta High School Softball Field.

Greenville Varsity Jackets were the first to get on the board in the first when Alexa Hyler singled, scoring one run.

Sparta Varsity Spartans jumped into the lead in the bottom of the second when Jaylin Riley singled, scoring two runs, and Myia Kavanagh grounded out, scoring one run.

Sparta Varsity Spartans scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Allie Amlotte doubled, scoring one run, Taliya Dauser doubled, scoring one run, Ila Antor doubled, scoring one run, and Kavanagh tripled, scoring two runs.

Dauser earned the win for Sparta Varsity Spartans. The righty allowed four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Jenna Jenks took the loss for Greenville Varsity Jackets. The hurler went six innings, giving up 10 runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out four and walking two.

Hyler, Rachelle Sherwood, Brooke Lindquist, and Aubrie Uebele each collected one hit for Greenville Varsity Jackets. Hyler went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Charlee Henrickson stole two bases.

Antor and Riley were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Sparta Varsity Spartans. Riley, the number nine hitter for Sparta Varsity Spartans, led the way with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Dauser threw an immaculate inning in the fourth, striking out the side on nine pitches. Grace Schmid stole two bases. Sparta Varsity Spartans stole four bases in the game.

Greenville Varsity Jackets will travel to Belding for their next game on Friday.
