Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Greenville Varsity Jackets fell to Sparta 22-13 at Greenville High School on Wednesday. Sparta collected 18 hits, while Greenville Varsity Jackets had 13.

Sparta got on the board in the top of the first inning after Aubrey Sidlauskas tripled to center field, Alexa VanVliet singled down the left field line, Greenville Varsity Jackets committed an error, and Taliya Dauser doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Sparta scored five runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. Grace Schmid tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, VanVliet singled, scoring one run, and Dauser doubled, scoring two runs.

Greenville Varsity Jackets scored eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Brynlee Walkes singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Paige Wilcox induced Charlee Henrickson to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, an error scored one run, Alexa Hyler tripled, scoring three runs, and an error scored one run.

Sparta took the lead in the top of the third. VanVliet doubled, scoring one run, to give Sparta the leg up, 10-9.

Sparta scored seven runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. Braelyn Johnson singled, scoring one run, Schmid singled, scoring two runs, Sidlauskas singled, scoring one run, VanVliet tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

Dauser earned the win for Sparta. The reliever allowed six hits and four runs over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none. M Burch took the loss for Greenville Varsity Jackets. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out none and walking two. Maddy Free started the game for Greenville Varsity Jackets. The hurler gave up 11 hits and 14 runs (eight earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking four. Wilcox started in the circle for Sparta. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and nine runs (six earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three.

Greenville Varsity Jackets accumulated 13 hits in the game. Hyler provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Greenville Varsity Jackets with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-5 on the day. Gianna Lahr went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Greenville Varsity Jackets in hits. Henrickson, Aubrie Uebele, and Walkes each collected multiple hits for Greenville Varsity Jackets.
