Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets Defeat Lakeview Behind Strong Performance From Emily Rice

Emily Rice was dominant in the circle, as the hurler rang up 10 strikeouts in Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets's 7-2 victory over Lakeview on Friday at Lakeview High School. Rice surrendered three hits and two runs over seven innings while walking none.

Lakeview got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.

In the top of the third inning, Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets went back into the lead after Drew Galey walked, Emma Durdle scored after tagging up, , and Kelsey Barczak grounded out, each scoring one run.

Rice provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Alexa Hyler, Cam Klco, and Aubrie Uebele each collected two hits for Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets. Alexis Enbody led Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Galey stole two bases.

Katelyn B, Sadie C, and Kaleigh R each collected one hit for Lakeview. B went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. B stole two bases.

Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets will travel to Lakeview for their next game on Friday.
