Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets With Tough Game Against Coopersville

Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets had trouble keeping up with Coopersville in a 12-2 loss on Tuesday at Coopersville High School.
Coopersville opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Coopersville first got on the board when Sam Lemieux singled, scoring one run.
Coopersville scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run, Ella Showers homered to right field, scoring three runs, and Kami Rasch singled, scoring one run.
Coopersville extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Erica Velzen and Lemieux.
Lemieux homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Coopersville.
Lemieux earned the win for Coopersville. The starter gave up six hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking three. Emily Rice took the loss for Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets. The right-handed pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs (seven earned) on 13 hits, striking out eight and walking three.
Leadoff hitter Aubrie Uebele led Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets with three hits in three at bats. Makenzie Enbody and Kelsey Barczak were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets.
