Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets Fall To Mason After Surrendering Big Third Inning

Mason defeated Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets 8-1 on Thursday at Greenville High School thanks in part to six runs in the third inning.

Mason got on the board in the top of the third inning after Cutter singled, Trigo singled to left field, Roche hit into a fielder's choice, Chaney grounded out, Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets committed an error, and Beach tripled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Cutter earned the win for Mason. The pitcher gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none. Emily Rice took the loss for Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets. The starting pitcher went seven innings, surrendering eight runs (three earned) on 10 hits, striking out six and walking one.

Drew Galey led Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Alexa Hyler led Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets with two hits in three at bats.

Mason amassed 10 hits in the game. Trigo, Roche, Dishaw, and Beach each collected two hits for Mason. Roche went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in.
