Strong Hitting Not Enough As Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets Falls To Northview

Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets fell 2-1 to Northview on Thursday despite out-hitting them four to three. Cam Klco led Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets with two hits.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Northview pitchers struck out 11, while Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets sat down four.

Northview were the first to get on the board in the first when Avery Obetts grounded out, scoring one run.

Klco singled down the right field line, which helped Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets tie the game at one in the top of the second.

A tag up by Elyse Turowski-Fix gave Northview the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third.

Navaeh Plaster earned the win for Northview. The hurler gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking two. Emily Rice took the loss for Greenville Varsity Yellow Jackets. The hurler went six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking three.

Klco went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Obetts drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northview with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Penny Frymire, Makenna Dusendang, and Obetts each collected one hit for Northview. Northview turned one double play in the game.
