Girls Varsity Cross Country vs. Union High School

Yellow Jackets Win: 40 -
Greenville girls edged out another win in a close meet. Greenville tied for first with Wayland Union, both with a score of 40 points, so the tiebreaker went to the 6th team runner, which was Rachel Bahlman for Greenville, beating out Wayland Union's 6th place runner Emiy Tuinstra.
The course that GR Union set up was definitely a challenge, consisting of some significant hills and ending with 3 climbs and 2 descents up and down a very steep hill known as "The Hawk's Nest." "Courses like these are why we do hill repeats," I told the everyone before the race.
Every single girl on this team dug deep, passing multiple opponents as they finished on those hills in order to secure the win. I was especially impressed with Emily Rice, as she notched a significant PR on a tough course, helping propel us forward to the win. This meet showed true grit and toughness from this team and really showed me their willingness to go out there and compete.

Yellow Jackets Win: 97 -
Greenville girls finished 4th with a team score of 97, out of 7 teams to tally a team score, and 11 teams total that were in attendance at the meet.
These girls have been putting in some hard days at practice, and their hard work is really beginning to pay off as we reach the middle of the season. 6 of our girls ran their fastest times ever on Saturday, but what really impresses me is that they are all still hungry for more. They have a fierce competitive drive and it's really showing so far this season. I'm excited to see what this group can achieve in the 2nd half of the season.

Yellow Jackets Win: 210.00 -
Greenville girls finished 8th out of 8 teams at the 2nd OK White Conference meet of the year.
This is another Ok White Conference Meet that brings incredible competition for our athletes, bit I continue to be impressed by their desire to continue to grow and get better as individuals and as a team. We had several girls run PRs today, and they continue to push themselves to the best of their abilities. I'm really proud of the way that this young team is coming together.

Yellow Jackets Win: 33 -
Greenville girls had an excellent outing Friday night at the Sparta Invitational, taking home first place in their division with a score of 33, compared with 36 for Leroy Pine River, and 56, for Grand Rapids Union. Dowagiac Union didn't have enough runners to record a team score.
I was really impressed with the way that all of the girls dug deep and finished their races strong. Almost everyone on the team finished strong and passed someone from the opposing teams at the end of the race. You could really tell they wanted the win. Gracelin Martin led the Jackets today, while also taking 1st place, with a time of 22:00:16.

Yellow Jackets Win: 225.00 -
Greenville girls came in 8th at our first conference meet of the year. There is some great competition in the OK White and we also sat a couple of girls due to some minor injuries to give them time to heal. Despite those challenges, we had a lot of girls on the team step up and run impressive races, with 4 PRs. I'm continually impressed by the desire for these girls to compete and become the best athletes they can each and every day.

Yellow Jackets Win: 184.00 -
Greenville girls ran wth heart and soul as they sped their way to a 4th place finish out of 16 teams at the Chippewa Hills Early Season Warrior Invitational for their first meet of the season. I was really impressed with how the girls handled the hilly course and still had enough left in the tank at the end of the race to secure a few additional places to help the team score some points. I'm excited to see what they can do for the rest of the season.
